Tacoma Washington’s Bujemane has gained a cult-like following recently and he shows no signs of slowing down as he proves why he is the prettiest bitch of the year on PBOTY. Bujemane has already had quite the year with two albums released, a second consecutive appearance at Seattle’s Upstream Music Fest, and a KEXP in-studio performance all while managing his own streetwear line “Redzone Worldwide”. This nine track album is an audio display of Buje’s artistic growth filled with oddball production courtesy of Buje’s longtime go-to producer Gary. KEXP’s Martin Douglas aptly claimed that in the best way possible, “Bujemane raps like a severely hungover friend muttering his way through breakfast conversation.” His trademarked melodic style of rapping sees him float over Gary’s ethereal beats but Buje still impresses with his lyrical ability on tracks like “Vip”. Buje and Gary keep improving with each release so get familiar with Tacoma’s rising stars!
Bujemane, born Austin Howard, is a Pacific Northwest artist with a colorful background. He’s delved into every facet of making music including both songwriting and producing. If there is ever a sound missing from the stellar production of his in-house beatmaker and engineer Gary – Buje can add it and throw the lob to Gary for to sequence. It was Buje’s initial work with the Boiler Boyz that introduced the world to Bujemane’s unique vocals and hardcore energy. After earning a local reputation for possessing a stellar live performance, Buje found himself to be an in-demand artist for local promoters. Bujemane has performed at in-studio performances for KUPS and KEXP and he performed at the both the inaugural and the second Upstream Music Festival. Bujemane independently released his EP Sorry We Couldn’t Wait For You earlier this year. In his free time, he works on his streetwear line Red Zone. He has recently enjoyed coverage from Seattle Weekly, Culture Magazine, and KEXP.
